Web Site Backup Program Details

Our backup service creates a copy of your web site and delivers the file via email or notifies you it's ready for download... you decide the method and the schedule.

Our process is:

  1. You register via the Installation Request form.
  2. We connect by phone to finish setting up the account (for your protection, we don't store your credit card or passwords on our computers).
  3. We install a scheduled backup program in your web site hosting account.
  4. You receive a copy of your web site via email or download the backup file at your leisure.
  5. If you choose to subscribe to our backup service, you get the following benefits:

    - Updates to your backup schedule
    - Upgrades to the backup software

A subscription is not required and once installed, the software is yours to keep. Should you choose to subscribe, you may cancel at any time and the software is STILL yours to keep and use. We'll also refund any balance remaining on a prepaid subscription.

Your Part of the Deal

You are responsible for keeping a safe copy of your backup file - we don't have it. The whole point is you have a backup that you control and no one can irreparably harm your web site as long as you have a working copy. There are a few minor file management tasks you need to perform with each backup (such as saving the file, then burning it to a CD for safekeeping) but we feel the small time investment is worth every loss avoided by this system. In fact, we're trying to keep track of how much loss has been avoided and to find out if our backup is being used in some way we didn't think about. We would like to know if you find a reason to use your backup file.

Changing Your Backup Settings

To help manage your backups, you can change the your backup schedule any time - just let us know. Schedule updates are free for subscribers. If you aren't a subscriber, we'll update your schedule, settings or email address for $15.

This program was developed with Hurricane Electric web hosting customers in mind. We've been working with their servers for many years and know how they're set up. If you're not a Hurricane Electric customer but have a Unix-based web host, we can probably install it anyway.
